A survey conducted at the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) has revealed the presences of a total number of 5,069 animals including 55 Tigers, reported by PTI.
The âwaterhole animal survey' was done on Saturday.
According to the PTI, the TATR, in a release, said that âNisarganubhav-2024' was organised on May 23 and 24 on the account of Buddha Purnima. It was also done on the Buddha Purnima because there is enough light due to full moon. Over 160 nature lovers participated in the exercise.
As many as 55 tigers, 17 leopards, 86 wild dogs, 65 sloth bears, 1,458 spotted deer, 488 sambhar and 559 Indian gaur were recorded in the core and buffer zones. At least 26 tigers and eight leopards were sighted in buffer areas, while 29 tigers and nine leopards were sighted in core areas, the news agency reported.

58-year-old man killed in tiger attack in Chandrapur
Meanwhile, in a man-animal conflict incident in mid-March, a 58-year-old man was killed by a Tiger recently in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district.
The incident took place forest area number 494 in Ballarpur range.
"The kin of the deceased have been given Rs 25,000 as initial relief. We have deployed eight camera traps to monitor the area. Personnel from the primary response team (PRT) have also been stationed there," the official said, as per the PTI.
The same incident happened in November last year when another 53-year-old man was killed by a tiger.
The man, identified as Manohar Vani, a school bus driver from Babupeth area, was reportedly attacked in the morning when he had gone to pray at a Shani temple in compartment number 484 of Lohara beat in Chandrapur forest division, he said.
"Camera traps have been installed and a primary response team (PRT) has been deployed in the area. Forest teams will ask villagers not to go to the part of the forest where the incident took place," the official informed, as per the PTI.
While 24 deaths have been reported in man-animal conflicts in the region this year, the figure was 53 for last year, the official said, as per the PTI.
