Three arrested, minors detained for gangrape of 20-year-old woman in Chhattisgarh

In the Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh, a senior police officer reported that three people were arrested and numerous young boys were detained on Tuesday for allegedly engaging in gang rape with a woman who was twenty years old.

He went on, "The boyfriend of the survivor was one of the accused." According to Jashpur Superintendent of Police Shashi Mohan Singh, three people from Saraiyoli village - Rasel Kujur (24), Ritesh Kujur (20), and Nishul Tirkey (above 18) - were taken into custody.

He said that three adolescents, ages sixteen to seventeen, had been placed in a juvenile observation home. The complainant claims that on May 26, when she went to her boyfriend's home in Lorodofa village, they had consensual sex.

He requested her to meet him at a reservoir in a different village the following day. She claimed that when he purposefully got into an argument with her and departed his friends, who had already shown up, raped her.

The suspects were arrested under Indian Penal Code sections 376 (rape), 376 (D) (gangrape), and 120 (B) (conspiracy) when she went to the police. Investigations continue.
