Three people died and several others were injured after a speeding tempo carrying a marriage party fell into a gorge near Poladpur in Maharashtra's Raigad district on Friday evening. Police officials said the tempo was coming from Ratnagiri to Kudpan of Poladpur taluka in Raigad district.
Raigad SP Ashok Dudhe said the incident took place around 7 pm. In the accident, 34 people sustained injuries, of which four are in critical condition.
According to police, a tempo carrying a marriage party fell in 70-80 feet deep valley. Cops believe that the driver lost control of the vehicle at a sharp turn near Dhangarwadi area and the tempo fell into the valley.
Local police and other rescue teams were dispatched from Mahad, Mahabaleshwar, and Khed for the rescue operations. Within a few hours, all the injured were rescued and rushed to hospitals near Mahad and Poladpur. Police officials said the marriage party had come to kudpan village from nearby Khadpi village of Poladpur.

The accident took place on Friday evening when the marriage party was returning to their village in the tempo.
Raigad Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashok Dudhe told Mid-day, "There were 67 occupants in the vehicle, three died while the rest have been rescued. As per the information, 34 of them have received injuries of which four are serious."
