As many as three people died and five were injured in a boiler blast at a sugar mill in Sitapur of Uttar Pradesh on Monday, police said, reported the PTI.
The blast took place at Jawaharpur sugar mill in the Ramkot police station area.
The blast in the boiler took place during maintenance work, killing three labourers on the spot. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, said Circle Officer (City) Aman Singh, as per the PTI.
The injured were rushed to a hospital for treatment while those killed are yet to be identified, police said.

An official statement issued in Lucknow said Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the Sitapur district magistrate to reach the spot and make arrangements for proper treatment of the injured, according to the PTI.
The chief minister also condoled the loss of lives in the incident, the statement said.
Meanwhile, a truck carrying LPG gas cylinders met with an accident near Paschim Vihar East Metro Station on Monday, officials said.
"We got information that a truck carrying LPG gas cylinders met with an accident near Paschim Vihar East Metro Station. A team was soon sent to the spot and the traffic was diverted from there to avoid any kind of major situation," said a police officer, adding it prima facie seems that the truck lost control over the wheels while saving some other vehicles, as per the PTI.
The police took to X to update about the traffic situation post the accident.
"Traffic is affected on Rohtak Road in the carriageway from Peeragarhi towards Punjabi Bagh due to overturning of a truck under Paschim Vihar Metro Station. Kindly avoid the stretch," police said.
The police later said that the vehicle was removed from the spot.
The police have started further investigation into the matter.
In an another incident, at least 40 people were injured in an accident early Monday morning in which two buses collided with each other on the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura, officials said on Monday, the ANI reported.
The incident occurred at the Mile Stone 110 Raya Cut in Mathura.
The accident occured at around 3 am when a bus on its way from Dholpur to Noida collided with another bus which was headed to Etawah to Noida.
Low visibility due to fog is being said to be a contributing factor to the incident. Parts of north India remains engulfed in dense fog with reduced visibility, the officials said, according to the PTI.
They said that 31 injured passengers were admitted to the district hospital, while nine other injured individuals were admitted to other hospitals.
