West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh was on Wednesday slammed for his âperverted' and âmisogynistic' remark about Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Addressing an election rally in Purulia on Tuesday, Ghosh said the TMC president wants to show off her plastered leg and that she should wear bermuda shorts instead of saree.
"People don't want to see her face, that's why she's showing her broken leg... What kind of saree is she wearing, which covers one leg and shows the other? If you want to put out your leg, why saree, wear a bermuda, it can be seen," Ghosh said in his speech delivered in Bengali.
TMC MP Mahua Moitra took to Twitter to criticise Ghosh for his sleazy comment. "@BJP WB Pres asks in public meeting why Mamatadi is wearing a saree, she should be wearing "Bermuda" shorts to display her leg better. And these perverted depraved monkeys think they are going to win Bengal?" she tweeted.
"Am waiting for some intellectual commentariat explanation on how Dilip Ghosh's misogynistic crudity re: Mamata Banerjee's legs is the fault of elite thinking, which has not encouraged the sort of misogynistic crudity that crude men love?" tweeted senior journalist Ranjona Banerji.

"Puerile and misogynistic in Purulia. BJP chief Dilip Ghosh as vicious and vulgar as expected... " another Twitter user, Nandita Sengupta, said.
According to an Indian Express report, Ghosh faces a sexual harassment case for his controversial remark about a woman anti-CAA protester, who was heckled by BJP supporters in Kolkata in February last year. "She should thank her stars that only the [No CAA, No NRC] poster was torn and nothing was done to her," he had said after the incident.
I'll completely bowl out BJP: Mamata
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said she will "bowl out" the BJP with a "single shot of her good leg" in the Assembly polls. At a rally in Onda, Bankura, she said, "On the day of elections, vote for TMC and completely eradicate BJP's field, do not give them a single vote." "If mothers and sisters ask me that one of your legs is broken, what will you do, I will say that with the blessings of Maa, I will play such a shot with my one good leg, I will completely bowl out BJP."
