Karnataka hijab ban: Court to resume hearing at 2.30 pm tomorrow

The court will continue hearing on February 14 at 2.30 pm.

"Students should wear uniform in the interests of unity, equality and public order," Sr Advocate reads the Government Order (GO).

Advocate General says the translation is not accurate.

"State says wearing of head scarf can be a problem as other students want to display their religious identity. The answer has been given by the Supreme Court, the state has to make a conducive atmosphere," Sr Advocate Kamat says.

"Constitution says Article 25 will be subject to public order. State says public order will be what is decided by an MLA committee. Public order is an essential state function. Can't be left to MLA Committee" says Kamat.
