After paying his tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, CJI Chandrachud interacted with the media where he said, "Gandhi's life is not just a beacon only for India but for that world"
Adding his message, Chandrachud said that Gandhi's life message of compassion, humanity and the oneness of humankind is a message for civilisations across the world
"Speaking for myself in our work as judges everyday we realise everyday the importance of compassion, universality, tolerance and equality which Gandhiji preached in all his acts and deeds and words," CJI Chandrachud said after paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi
Mahatma Gandhi, also known as Father of India, was assassinated by Nathuram Godse on January 30, 1948
January 30 is also marked as Martyr's Day in India. "Gandhiji's teachings are as relevant today as they were when he spoke", the CJI said
