Normal life in Jammu was partially affected on Friday due to a strike called by All Jammu and Kashmir Transport Welfare Association (AJKTWA)

The members of the transport association sloganeered near the newly set up Sarore toll plaza in Samba district. Many vehicles remained line up in one tube of the highway during the rally, report by news agency PTI said.

The public transport was not operational on Friday impacting the commuters and attendance of students in educational institutions in the Union Territory. Commuters at Jammu Railway station were forced to walk with their heavy luggage amid the strike by AJKTWA led by association’s Chairman Ajit Singh.

The drivers of private taxis also sloganeered outside Jammu Railway station demanding removal of the toll plaza.

Amid the protest calls, private taxi drivers had, too, refused to play and all the vehicles remained stationed in a parking lot near Jammu station.

A striking photograph from the union territory showed a woman walking through parked rickshaws outside the railway station.
