Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the significant increase in capital expenditure under the current BJP government. Speaking at the `Journey Towards Viksit Bharat: A Post Union Budget 2024-25 Conference` on July 3rd, Modi compared the growth in capital expenditure during the UPA government to the present administration. He pointed out that in 2004, the first budget of the UPA government allocated about Rs. 90,000 crore for capital expenditure. This amount rose to Rs. 2 lakh crore by the end of the UPA tenure. Today, under the BJP government, capital expenditure has soared to over Rs. 11 lakh crore. PM Modi in the CII Post-Budget conference 2024 emphasized that capital expenditure is a key driver of productive investment in resources.
