The Kolkata rape horror has ignited widespread protests, with demands for severe punishment for the accused, Sanjay Roy. Scheduled for a polygraph test on August 25, Roy’s examination was delayed on August 24 due to technical issues and inadequate jail arrangements, according to CBI officials. On the same day, polygraph tests were conducted on ex-principal Sandip Ghosh, four doctors, and one volunteer involved in the case. The Calcutta High Court has given the CBI three weeks to submit a progress report by September 17. The Supreme Court, having taken suo motu cognizance of the case, has scrutinized the West Bengal government, ordering the security of the hospital involved to be handled by the CISF.
