Democracy is making a lucrative foray into Indian boardrooms and office cubicles.
For the very first time, Indian companies like HCL Technologies, 3i Infotech and Srijan Technologies have found a place in the list of the 'Most Democratic Workplaces in the World'.
The data was released by WorldBlu, a US-based firm working to unleash human potential and champion growth of democratic organisations across the globe.
WorldBlu has been putting out this annual data since 2007.
"We are here to encourage Indian companies become more democratic workplaces. Our methodology consists of surveying employees anonymously using the Internet," WorldBlu founder and CEO, Traci Fenton, told MiD DAY. "We also take companies into confidence and they often help facilitate this process."
She claimed democratic work set-ups also help companies in the West identify good companies in India to do business with. "Companies abroad would love to work with such companies where employees are empowered and innovative," said Fenton.
She refused to divulge the sample size or methodologies of employees surveyed in India. "We have developed our own methodologies, and our data can be relied upon," she said.
