This furry four-legged ball of fur is the new mayor of small northwestern Minnesota town of Cormorant and that too for the third time in a row.
The lucky chap is nine-year-old Duke, a Great Pyrenees.
"I don't know who would run against him because he's done such great things for the community," Cormorant resident and Mayor Duke's caretaker Karen Nelson told local online portal there.
The locals say Duke has one of the highest approval ratings in the country.
"Everybody voted for Duke, except for one vote for his girlfriend, Lassie," Duke's owner David Rick said.
Locals said the dog was unavailable for an interview, but his media people said he's more than ready for a third term.
Duke became a celebrity when his first inauguration was covered in 2014. Tammy Odegaard, an event organiser and member of Duke's staff, said at the time that they wanted to 'have him put his little paw on the Bible' while taking the oath of office for the first time.
The cutest thing that happened in 2014 was when Steve Sorenson, chairman of Cormorant Township told Duke "You are about to embark upon a great time of service, and tremendous personal and professional growth. If you accept this challenge and these responsibilities, please bark or pant."
And guess what? Duke panted!
