Kate Barrett, 36, told a UK publication that she was initially shaken and upset after the break-in.
But, writing the note made her smile and see the funny side of things.
Barrett wrote in the note that there was no need for the burglars to come back, unless they were interested in her collection of VHS videos and cassettes.
She also asked the burglars to just knock the door next time instead of breaking in the patio door as cleaning up the glass is a chore.
Barrett, who lives with her partner Dan Owens, has lost cufflinks, an iPod, a gold watch, a Canon camera, jewellery and cash, to the thieves. u00a0
