As Russia's invasion of Ukraine enters its second week, a café in Kerala has devised a novel way to protest against the Kremlin's aggression, removing Russian salad from its menu.

"In solidarity with people of Ukraine, we have removed ‘Russian salad' from our menu," reads the message posted outside Kashi Art Cafe & Gallery in Fort Kochi. A picture of the message board went viral on social media and has triggered a debate online.

While some lauded the café's gesture, others said there were bigger things happening in the world and it "didn't make a difference."

"Russian salad off the menu too. This appears to be from the Kashi art cafe in Kochi, Kerala. A really nice place that I've been to many times over the years. Sincere, perhaps, but totally ridiculous (sic)," Edward Anderson, a Senior Lecturer from Northumbria University tweeted.

"Haha the world is going on about like things like these are gonna make a difference (sic)," another user wrote.

Meanwhile, global football governing body FIFA and the European body UEFA last week had decided to suspend Russia and club teams from the country until further notice, reacting sternly to the country's invasion of Ukraine.
