Making sense of the good, bad and often strange trending topics onlineThe renaming of West Bengal led to much mirth online, especially after the new name Paschimbanga was inexplicably referred to as Poschim Bongo.
Faking News tweeted: 'Are they renaming the Kolkata Knight Riders too? Poschim Bongo Bouncers maybe.'
Anand Ramachandran pointed out that 'Poschim Bongo sounds like some downloadable Wii game.'
There was also this suggestion from Rohan Joshi: 'I propose we rename Maharashtra Dakshin Djembe.'
And this, from Pooja Arora: 'West Bengal is now Poschim Bongo! Looks like Momota Do couldn't find any other way to leave her stamp and waste state funds!' That debate continues.
Fairground attractionRamlila Maidan was an inevitable trending topic for much of the day, considering the amount of eyeballs it managed to grab on televisions sets across the country.
As Barkha Dutt commented though, 'Wonder why some Anna supporters go on comparing Ramlila Maidan with Egypt.
Their cause is great, but last heard, India is still a democracy.' Actor Anupam Kher, meanwhile, had an issue with Dutt: 'Disappointed not to see Barkha on Ground Zero.
She can go to Egypt, but not to Ramlila Maidan. Sad.' PragmaticDesi commented: 'There are three Indias - Bharat, India and Ramlila Maidan.'
And Offstumped had a question: 'May we ask who exactly is footing the bill for getting Ramlila Maidan prepared?'
Food for thoughtFor reasons known only to themselves - as is often the case - a large number of people on Twitter decided to replace song names with curry.
Some of the examples that cropped up included Love Me Tandoor, Popadum Preach, Dansak on the Ceiling, Happiness is a Warm Naan, Korma Police, Jalfrezi Little Thing Called Love, Tikka Chance On Me and Paperback Raita. Sigh.
