The day is not faru00a0 when a major part of that country will come under draconian Shariat law. We should heed the looming danger and take preventive action, so our country is not affected.
What are the implications of Pakistan's decision for us?u00a0 There are pockets in our country where fundamentalists routinely demand that Sharia be imposed. For a long time, political parties under the guise of protecting the minorities have been practicing pseudo secularism. Reservations, undue concessions and appeasement have been directed towards minorities. Emboldened by their gains and strategic moves, these fundamentalist elements are slowly enlarging their sphere of influence and territorial hegemony.
India needs to wake up. Political parties should give up their vote bank politics. Unless we exercise vigilance, our country is in danger of being swamped by fundamentalists of the Taliban-type. All distinctions of religion, caste and creed should be done away with, and one set of laws should be applicable to all Indian citizens. Will politicians, and all citizens with a vision heed the signs of impending danger and rise to the occasion?
