MAKING WAY: President Pratibha Patil was in Mumbai to inaugurate the Global Vipasana Pagoda at Gorai

You report Make Way For Our President (February 7) was in very bad taste.

The head of our Republic visited the city, so for that, if some traffic inconvenience is caused to the public, why such a hue and cry. Can't we make a few adjustments?

Should we tell all our leaders to stay put at home, so we can enjoy our smooth ride on roads?

Every other day, on any and every road in Mumbai, traffic comes to a stand still. And it is certainly not because of some traffic bandobost for our Prime Minister or President.

This is the story in every metro. So why single out and blame our visiting government heads alone?

When the VVIPs visit a place and some traffic restrictions are made, we talk of public inconvenience. And when people are allowed to walk freely and some mishap happens, then we talk of security lapse and inefficiency of the government and the police force.

Isn't this a sort of devil and deep sea syndrome?

Well, for a change, can we be a little more objective while summarising social scenes and give our habit ofu00a0 bashing politicos a break?
