GOOD SAMARITAN: A policeman

This is with reference to your article '1090 ka bond...' published yesterday. It is really nice to know that our cops have a human side too and are ever ready to help the common man. No longer are they bogged down by political pressure and riddled in red tapism.

Only recently, I experienced the sensitive side of our Mumbai police. On December 23, I was out for my morning walk, when I came across an ailing old beggar. I called up Asha Daan, an NGO, to inform them about the old man, hoping that they would give him immediate medication. However, they asked to get in touch with the police.

So I dialled 100 and informed the cops. To my surprise, within 10 minutes the Agripada police team came rushing to rescue the dying man.

Since the man was lying on the J J Marg section of the road, they called the J J Marg police, who also attended to him quickly.

I'm glad they helped the old man. Their actions have revived my faith in our police force.
