I want to congratulate the BCCI for taking a quick and timely decision on who will coach the Indian team.
When I was being appointed as a coach in 1998, the process took a long time before the board arrived at a decision.
I personally feel that Fletcher will be a good coach. He proved his efficient coaching skills during England's successful 2005 Ashes campaign.
Apart from that, he is capable of handling the media pressure as well, just like Gary Kirsten.
When I took over as a coach, allegations of match-fixing and Kapil Dev's resignation were in the news but I somehow managed to handle them well.
