Gautam Gambhir may be in the best phase of his career, which started from the first World Twenty20 Tournament, but one has to accept that form is only temporary and class is permanent. Under no circumstances can Gambhir be said to have class. And this is evident from the last three tournaments.
Gambhir flopped in IPL 2, the World Twenty20 Cup and in India's tour of West Indies. So, it's no big deal if he has been declared the best Test player.
It would be interesting to see how the selectors will deal with him when he loses the form. Wasim Jaffer was dropped under similar circumstances when he did not perform well against Australia and South Africa.
