HYPOCRITE: Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan has voiced his displeasure against Danny Boyle for showing India in poor light in his movie Slumdog Millionaire. But is this sudden concern from him only because a team of international filmmakers is attached to the movie?u00a0

Has Mr Bachchan, through AB corp, ever considered making a film with a positive spin on any issue that addresses India's socio-economic aspect? Has he ever in his capacity as a citizen taken up the cause of urban poverty? He should read Tavleen Singh's book, Article upon Article, in which she has been screaming hoarse about the perpetration of urban ghettos and utter neglect by many state governments to the creation of low-cost housing in cities.u00a0

The problem of poverty cannot be resolved by such criticism. In fact, we need more films like Slumdog Millionaire that look at poverty squarely in the eye.
