I had a very normal childhood, the kind where you are supposed to be back home by six in the evening every day

I had a very normal childhood, the kind where you are supposed to be back home by six in the evening every day. I was a big introvert those days, and always worried about being overweight. After completing my English (Hons) from Hindu college, I was supposed to go to Oxford University for further studies. But in between, I somehow developed a fascination towards being an airhostess, and before I knew it, I was training with British Airways. But things drastically changed when my dad expired as soon as I returned. My family -- mother and younger siblings -- were all wrecked. So from a seven-room flat in Vasant Kunj, we had to live in a barsati at Saket, and I had no option but to continue with my airline job, as I had to support my family. I didn't wait for long, and resumed work just one week later. That went on till 1995.

Robbie and I met for the first time during a Himalayan car rally. And soon, we became friends. Suddenly, one night, while I was leaving for Dubai, he said, "I won't let you go. We will get married right away." And then he took me to his friend's farmhouse where we got married. Kahaani puri filmi thi. That was 1998.

In these 10 years of our marriage, Robbie has been the true pillar of my strength. He always supports, encourages and pampers me. We still go on drives and dinners together. I think he's the best thing to have happened to me. What followed sometime after was motherhood. And I like to keep my kids as grounded asu00a0 I can. I am preparing them for the worst, so that they can enjoy the best. I want them to realise that nothing comes easy, no matter how simple it all seems.

I am not a guilty mom, as I spend a lot of time with my kids. I take them out daily, be it to a mall or the park. At the same time, I am also strict with them and don't allow them to compromise with their studies and other co-curricular activities.

In short, I am reliving my own childhood through my daughters. I'm living-loving, and that's so much better than mere dating!
