The BMC in its recent budget has allocated crores for rebuilding roads in the city. But Mumbaikars do not seem to be convinced that the condition of roads will improve for the simple reason that crores will be spent on building substandard roads using paver blocks, which tiles cannot withstand Mumbai's heavy rains.
The BMC has used paver blocks on many south Mumbai roads, but the work has been done in a haphazard manner.
Contractors do not following the prescribed method for laying paver blocks and hence the work is shoddy. This makes commuting on roads difficult. Even pedestrians find it difficult to use these roads.u00a0
