The 26/11 terror attacks may have put a hitch in the city's stride, but two months on, Mumbai is back on its feet and how! Sunday saw Mumbai put its best foot forward, quite literally. With 35,000 participants the sixth edition of the Mumbai marathon kick-started with a lot of enthusiasm. Post 26/11, this was the biggest event in the city that saw Mumbaikars once again unite for peace and security.u00a0 Thousands took to the streets as they ran for the cause and lakhs turned up to cheer the runners in this show of strength.
The best part of this event is that it is non-discriminatory. It's a race in which little importance is given to the finishing line. The marathon has never been about winning, but about experiencing the spirit of Mumbai.
But, this year the marathon was special. It saw a terror-torn city come together just two months after the attacks. Sporting tees that condemned the terror attacks, Mumbaikars gave out a clear message that they may be down, but they are not out.u00a0
