Could it be another fishing expedition? But after confronting public anger over corruption spearheaded by yoga guru Ramdev in its now-customary inept fashion, Dilli has gone into a flurry of activity. Whereas a recently constituted committee of tax babus is now examining ways to toughen laws and curb generation of black money, the Finance Ministry has reported some headway in its efforts to get details of unaccounted for wealth stashed away in tax havens.

Apparently, the Supreme Court has been informed that tax havens, under pressure from the government, have now agreed to disclose information about illicit funds belonging to Indian citizens lying with them.

But this may be the easy part, since bringing the moolah back is clearly an uphill task. But given the current popular sentiment after the Ramdev fiasco, the government probably feels it needs to demonstrate it is indeed serious about tacking corruption.

Parking, without tears
Urban development minister Kamal Nath says that he won't allow any new construction in the country without parking space. And not a moment too soon, feel many in both Dilli and Mumbai. Dilli sarkar after all has been expending a lot of thought and energy to solving the parking crisis in the capital, especially its popular shopping areas. The parking issue which generated a lot of interest recently was at the tony Khan Market, where parking has always been free for shoppers. Shopowners, who want to encourage footfalls, have settled a long-pending dispute with municipal authorities by agreeing to pay the monthly license fee themselves.

Dilli will also have automated multi-level parking at other shoppers' haunts such at Sarojini Nagar, Connaught Place, etc. Flyers will also now be able to "park and fly" at the Delhi airport, undeterred by the stiff parking rates. Convenience does come with a price tag.
