Making sense of the good, bad and often strange trending topics online
Rajneesh Kapoor wondered about the possibility of cloning the man.
Why? 'Because a lot of tweeple think that, every time there is a terrorist act, all we have to do is hang him.'
Someone with the handle Freegeek added: 'What's this fuss about his birthday? Isn't every day his birthday until he's hanged?' Kishore Murari pointed out that 'politicians are more dangerous than Qasab, because at least he killed people directly rather than indirectly.'
Party time
Our Opposition Party came in for a bit of flak online in the wake of the Mumbai blasts. In the words of one tweeter, using the handle Offstumped, 'Dear BJP, enough of sitting on the fence, playing it safe, and clever by half politics. Offer concrete ideas and solutions or else 2014 will pass you by in 2012.'
Vineeth Jose jocularly added, 'If the world ends today, the BJP would hold the Prime Minister responsible for that!' PragmaticDesi commented, 'If the BJP didn't believe in the Indian Constitution, it wouldn't be standing for elections in India.'
And there was this, from Madhavan Narayanan: 'As long as the BJP and Congress have varying nationalisms, with attendant minority-linked positions, solidarity against terror is a dream.'
For their children
'When I have kids' was a trending topic that yielded responses ranging from 'I'll feed them fresh cow's milk every morning' to 'I will name one of them Albus Severus Potter.'
Also, tragically, 'I will raise them listening to Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus.' God help them.
The last word
Shobhaa De had this to say, for a lot of us: 'How many lives does Mumbai have? Nine? Oh good! We still have a couple more left! Oops! I forgot. We are sitting ducks, not cats.'
