A CUT ABOVE THE REST: US President Barack Obama
My NEWS readers say Indian politicians need to learn a lesson or two from the American presidentu00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0
This is with reference to the article in MiD DAY 'Kaun Banega Apna Obama?'u00a0u00a0
The greatness of US President Barack Obama lies in his simplicity and humility. Be it his family background, his tryst with marijuana as a "confused kid" or his Blackberry addiction, Obama's life has been like an open book.

His strong conviction that together "we can and we will" bring about a change has had a positive impact on Americans, who had lost all hope after the miserable failure of the Bush administration.
But no Indian politician can come close to being Obama. Here, leaders are only interested in vote bank politics, which benefits the rich and the famous. By sponsoring electoral campaigns, industrialists often influence politicians to introduce reforms to favour them. It's the middle class and the poor that are left high and dry.u00a0

A clear distinction between Obama and any other Indian politician is the ability to debate intelligently. Except for a handful of leaders most of them are unfit for the job, their only qualification being their criminal records.
Our politicians should take a cue from Obama and brush their oratory skills. This will help them reach out to the masses. Are we asking for too much?u00a0

One of a kind
He came, he saw, he conquered. This stands true for Barack Obama. Judging by the public adulation he received, it can be said that he enjoys universal support. He has touched the hearts of millions across the globe by his simplicity.
No doubt, the tasks before him are daunting and will require nerves of steel and absolute dynamism to steer the sinking world to a safety zone. It's not just his own nation, but nations all over the world that have pinned their hopes on Obama.
Every politician in our country should learn from this historic presidential campaign. They should emulate the spirit and dignity that Obama has displayed.
