In B-Town true friends are a rare breed as Shah Rukh Khan has discovered today. His loyal buddy Farah Khan has dumped him for the actor's arch-rival Akshay Kumar. Many people in the film industry call it a just comeuppance for SRK. While some in B-Town call it his arrogance, others blame it on his coterie of friends (called the Bandra B's) and the rest find him just matlabi. Shah Rukh forgot the three cardinal principles of true friendship keep the communication lines open, make time for true friends and be forgiving. Apparently SRK was always 'too busy' for Farah. Shah Rukh's close friend till a couple of years ago, Salman Khan might agree (he had a big fight with SRK over the same and stopped speaking to him after that).
Sunil Shetty, who had spoken about how Akshay Kumar had chopped his role in Phir Hera Pheri sings, eulogies on him today after Akshay's BO successes. Sanjay Dutt and Akshay had fought bitterly more than a decade ago, but all is well today when Akki visits Dutt's mata ki chowki before the release of their next film Blue. While most actors talk about Akshay cutting their roles nobody refuses to work with him. Success pays off envy... And it's all about the money honey at the BO.
Lone wolf Ajay Devgan, who had kept out of camps, suddenly decides to walk the ramp for Salman Khan's Being Human and hosts a show-of-strength success party. Salman Khan taught Hrithik Roshan how to build up a fabulous body, but it just took a script and Sanjay Leela Bhansali to split up Hrithik and Salman's gehri dosti (apparently it was Sallu who had given SLB the Guzaarish script and asked him to make a film with him but SLB took it to Hrithik). Today, Hrithik is seen bonding with Shah Rukh at most parties while Salman remains a cold acquaintance.
Hot newbies Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan have been touted as best buds. And yet Ranbir discreetly gives the impression that he's not fond of Imran at all. Another matlabi dosti gone phut?
A rumour doing the rounds today is that another of SRK's loyalist buddies Karan Johar might launch his next direction (after My Name is Khan releases) with the hottest flavour of the month, Ranbir Kapoor.
If that becomes true SRK would become the loneliest (and still the most envied) man in B-Town (never mind the fact that all actresses from Kareena Kapoor to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Katrina Kaif are eager to work with him).
They say success breeds envy. In B-Town even envy is as fickle as friendship.u00a0
