Working on the premise that a sum of parts makes a whole, several housing societies across the city are taking upon themselves to see that residents and locals in their area get the vaccine.
This paper has reported about pockets in residential areas conducting vaccine drives, with a large number of people getting vaccinated, and this comes as a relief for people who were struggling to get slots for the jab.
In this way, a large section of people can get vaccinated. It is not just residents but their dependents and staffers, those who are employed by them who can avail of these facilities and get the jab.
This paper reported about Cuffe Parade aiming for a Covid-free area. For that, they have started a vaccination drive on May 31 and are seeing good success with a large number of housing societies, enthused by the success of the buildings which started and want to do this project in their buildings.
One can certainly see merit in the logic that small steps, or little drops can make an ocean. While vaccinating a megapolis like Mumbai can seem too overwhelming, small goals can seem less intimidating and achievable. If one cannot hold a vaccine drive for a building, do see that family members take the shot. A domestic who works for you and is struggling for a slot, should be helped.
What people can do is join in the effort of taking small steps and becoming part of the small steps to reach the overall goal. Begin with you of course, when it comes to the jab and then, see if you can help others in your circle get the shot. Once the first tier of your contacts is achieved, see if you can go a bit further and facilitate the jab for an acquaintance. In this way, it is everybody pitching in in whatever way they can, and no effort is too small to achieve the vaccine for all goal.
