'Dark Knight' shooting suspect charged with 24 counts of murder

James Holmes, who went on a shooting spree during the premiere of The Dark Knight Rises at a movie hall in Colorado, has been charged with 24 counts of murder.


James Holmes, who allegedly killed 12 people during the screening of The Dark Knight Rises, has been charged with 24 counts of murder and 116 counts of attempted murder.

Holmes, 24, is accused of shooting through a packed movie hall during the screening of the latest Batman film at a movie hall in Colorado.

The shooting rampage killed 12 people and injured 58 others, reports said.

Holmes was arrested shortly after the rampage carried out on July 20.

According to the report, the Batman obsessed killer was also charged with one count of possession of explosives.

Legal analysts expect his case to be dominated by arguments over his sanity.
