Michael Jackson's longtime friend, Indian-American spiritual guru Deepak Chopra has revealed that the pop star became obsessed with his appearance after suffering burn injuries during the shooting of a Pepsi commercial in 1984.

The pop legend, who died after a cardiac arrest on June 25, indulged in "a lot of self-loathing" after the harrowing accident.


"He was obsessed about his appearance after the incident and also about the fact that he was disfigured.

The video of the accident, which was made public recently, shows how Jackson suffered second and third-degree burn injuries after his head caught fire during the shooting in Los Angeles.

It is said that MJ developed an addiction to painkillers and a fascination to plastic surgery while recovering from the accident. Chopra added that obsession with mutilation was part of Jackson's childhood stress.
