Singapore: A total of 35 South Asian men have been arrested so far after a fight broke out at a dormitory here, according to a media report today.

The fight, broke out, Tuesday night, at the suburb Kaki Bukit industrial area was between two groups of dormitory residents and took place during the screening of a live cricket match, The Straits Times said, citing a Singapore Police statement.

Police said the situation was quickly contained. The cricket match was between West Indies and Bangladesh. Police said 13 suspects were arrested in connection with the riot on the same day, while another 22 suspects were caught on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to a Channel News Asia report, police would charge 14 suspects in court today for rioting. If convicted, they face a jail term of seven years.

Another three suspects would be charged with affray. They face a jail term of a year or a fine of 5,000 Singaporean dollars.

Police said investigations against the other suspects were ongoing.
