Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the man behind a controversial anti-Islam film, which sparked a wave of violent protests, was taken into federal custody on suspicion of violating terms of his probation, a media report said.
Nakoula (55), the producer of 'Innocence of Muslims', is likely to have violated his probation terms which stemmed from a 2010 bank fraud case.
Under the terms, he was not supposed to use the internet without permission from his probation officer. Any approved computers were to be used for work only, reports said.
The 14-minute video had ignited violent protests in Benghazi, Libya and led to the death of US ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans on September 11.
Similar protests were held across the Arab world. u00a0
