Tripathi was identified through a forensic dental exam. Though the exact cause of his death remains unknown, medical examiners said no foul play was suspected.
Tripathi had been missing for the past one month. His body was found on Tuesday by members of the Brown crew team off India Point Park and was brought to shore by its coach said local police chief.
The Tripathis had been searching for Sunil since mid-March with help from the FBI and fellow Brown students. His sister Sangeeta said Sunil had left his phone, wallet and other belongings in his apartment near campus and simply disappeared.
She said Sunil was on a leave from the Ivy League School, where he was studying philosophy, and was going through a difficult time. Speculation stormed the Internet, including website Reddit, that Tripathi was the second of two suspects who executed Boston the Marathon bombings.
This happened because some thought he resembled one of the suspects in the photos released by the FBI, which eventually turned out to be 19-year-old Chechen Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. u00a0
