A man dubbed Colombia's Josef Fritzl has been accused of imprisoning and raping his daughter from the age of nine and fathering 11 children with her.
Arcebio Alvarez (58), who needed police and army protection as he appeared in court on Saturday, has however told a judge he was innocent, saying his accuser was not his biological daughter, but an adopted one.
He said the couple had agreed to have a romantic relationship because "we really loved each other".
He was held in custody while the children, three boys and five girls, were put under state protection.
Three other children had died.
The victim, now in her 30s, said a pastor had convinced her to come forward about the abuse.
