Says Donald Trump, just a day after he said his temporary ban on Muslims entering the US was 'just a suggestion'
'Terrific' U-turn: Donald Trump
Washington: Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has said his proposal to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the US was not just a "suggestion" and if elected to the White House, he would not allow Syrian refugees who are "not vetted properly" to come in.
'Terrific' U-turn: Donald Trump
"No, I would not allow people to come in from Syria. They are not vetted properly," Trump told Fox News on Thursday night. Responding to a question on his remarks a day earlier that his proposal was just a suggestion, the real-estate tycoon said it was not and that he would implement it as Syrian refugees were "moving in by the thousands."
"We cannot allow people to come in from Syria, and I would stop it and I would stop it immediately. We have tens of thousands of people coming into this country. We don't know who they are. There's no paperwork. There's no documentation," Trump asserted.
Trump and his 'Muslim ban'
> Last December in a statement, Trump called for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the US until "our country's representatives can figure out what is going on."
> On Tuesday, he said he would make an 'exception' in the rule for London's first Muslim mayor Sadiq Khan.
> On Wednesday, he said: It's a temporary ban, it hasn't been called for yet. This is just a suggestion until we find out what's going on.
