A female journalist was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Afghanistan's Nangarhar province on Thursday, an official confirmed. The incident took place in the provincial capital of Jalalabad.
"Malalai Miwand who worked for a private radio TV station was gunned down by unidentified armed men in Jalalabad city in the morning rush hour today and culprits made their escape," the official told Xinhua news agency.
He added that efforts were underway to bring the perpetrators to justice. Miwand's driver was also killed in the attack, hospital sources said.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. Miwand is the second journalist to be killed in Afghanistan since mid-November.
