A Briton who went into coma after a motorbike accident, regained consciousness on listening to his daughter's off-key flute playing that earlier used to drive him crazy.

Mark Bell, 48, failed to come round after the accident in which he suffered a broken back, bleeding in the brain, punctured lung and broken ribs.

Bell's wife Fleur was urged by doctors to talk to him so that he would wake up, The Sun reported on Monday.

When that didn't work, Fleur taped daughter Rebecca playing the flute.

Rebecca, 10, used to drive Bell crazy with her off-key notes as she practised for a flute exam.

Bell came out of the coma after Fleur repeatedly played the recording.

"I'd moan about Rebecca playing it over and over. She had just started out so it wasn't the greatest - though she's a lot better now. But I'm just grateful to still be here. I'll certainly never complain about Rebecca's flute playing again," Bell was quoted as saying.

Fleur said: "We thought we'd lost him but thanks to Rebecca's flute he was back with us. When he opened his eyes it was a miracle. It was very, very emotional."
