New Delhi: Spicy food fans will love today's special Google doodle as it is a fun animated game that marks Wilbur Scoville, the American pharmacist who developed a scale for measuring the heat of peppers.

Scoville, who was born on January 22, 1865 and would have been 151 today, developed the Scoville Organoleptic Test, now known as simply the Scoville scale, while working at a pharmaceutical company in the US.
The doodle, which is an interactive representation of the Scoville heat scale, shows Scoville holding pepper. The backdrop has different variety of peppers. Clicking on the doodle takes you through a tour of various levels of pepper heat.
Once an animated Scoville has tasted a pepper, he asks visitors to assist his experiments by cooling the chillies' heat. By clicking the mouse at the correct point on a sliding bar, you can fire ice cream at the offending chilli to neutralise it, with the game getting more difficult as they get hotter.
Google "Doodler" Olivia Huynh explained that spiciness is somewhat of a universal, comical experience, which 'I think opened the door for us to do something we usually might not be able to, like a fighting game.'
