Unlike A R Rahman's double win last year, the three Indian contenders this year failed to strike gold at the 53rd Grammy awards.
Vijay Iyer, Sandeep Das and Chandrika Krishnamurthy Tandon were in the race but failed to clinch the coveted golden gramophones.
Tandon was nominated in the Best Contemporary World Music Album category, for Soul Call, a collection of ancient Sanskrit chants.
Iyer, whose album Historicity was nominated in the Best Jazz Instrumental Album category, was beaten by late artist James Moody's Moody 4B.
Delhi-based tabla player, Sandeep Das, who was nominated in the Classical Crossover category for The Silk Road Ensemble's album Off The Map lost out to Tin, Christopher: Calling All Dawns.
Rahman, who won two golden gramophones last year for his music in Slumdog Millionaire, has not been faring well in the award circuits this year. After Golden Globes, he also failed to win at the BAFTAs this year.

Egg-licious
In true Lady Gaga form, the controversial singer made the red carpet rounds in a womb-like vessel that resembled an egg. The six-time nominee apparently had an oxygen tank inside the egg, but she never spoke a word on the red carpet.
