Gunmen Monday night attacked the Jinnah hospital in this eastern Pakistani city, killing at least 12 people, including four policemen, and injuring several others, media reports said.
About three to four gunmen stormed into the emergency ward of the hospital where several injured people of Friday's mosque attacks were admitted, Xinhua reported.
The attackers held patients and hospital staff hostage to thwart the police who arrived at the scene. They later escaped after a brief exchange of fire with security forces.
Geo TV said attendants of the hospital are among the dead.
