US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton arrived in Pakistan Wednesday on a three-day visit aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation and helping its close ally tackle Taliban militancy.
Clinton began her first official visit to Pakistan as it reeled under militant violence, with the military battling Taliban and Al Qaeda fighters in the South Waziristan tribal district along the Afghan border.
The former first lady was scheduled to hold talks with Pakistani political and military leaders, in addition to meeting elders from the troubled northwestern region and members of the business community, a spokesman for Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
It was expected that several agreements concerning US investment, particularly in the energy sector, would be signed during her visit.
