A man in Slovakia who placed an advertisement to seek a person who would agree to be killed, cooked and eaten has been arrested after his 'guest' had second thoughts and tipped off the police, it was reported here.
The suspected cannibal was arrested in Slovakia. The Swiss man who answered the advertisement claimed he thought the offer was just a "macabre fantasy game", British media reported. He changed his mind after telephone conversations with the man who placed the advertisement as he realised he was "deadly serious".
He told the police in Switzerland who contacted their Slovakian counterparts Monday.

Agent provocateur
An undercover officer posing as the victim went to catch the suspected cannibal. A gun battle took place in which the police officer and the suspected cannibal were both injured. "It appears this man was genuinely seeking to eat someone. His advert said he wanted someone who would agree to be put to sleep, then killed, cut up, cooked and eaten," a police official said. An official from Bratislava said he died in a hospital.
Jaroslava Oravcova, spokeswoman for a university clinic in the eastern city of Kosice said the 43-year-old father of two died on Thursday.

'A calm man'
The Slovak man was identified as Matej C, who lived with his wife and two daughters in a family house in Sokol, in eastern Slovakia, a newswire reported. The man was a computer expert and hobby shooter. He had moved to an upscale part of Sokol a few years ago and did not stand out in any way, according to neighbours and other villagers. His colleagues from the hobby shooting club described him as rather placid and inconspicuous man, newspapers reported. Police are conducting a search of his property, reports said.

Famous cannibal tribes
Aghoris are Hindu sadhus who believe immortality is attainable by bringing oneself closer to everything that is unclean. It is believed that they smear themselves with cremation ash, drink wine and urine from human skulls, and practice cannibalism. Anyoto, also known as the Human Leopard Society, was an 18th century West African secret society that practised cannibalism. Each member had to murder a loved one to join, and had to provide a fresh victim every four years thereafter. They believed that a victim's body fat allowed wishes to be granted.
