Former president of the Talegaon Municipal Council Kausalya Kalokhe's husband Pratap Ganpat Kalokhe (50) was found murdered near the Talegaon General Hospital late on Saturday night. The police suspect previous enmity behind the murder and have booked four persons in this regard.
Pratap was attacked by his assailants with sharp weapons like swords and choppers, going by the wounds on his body, especially on his head and stomach.
Pratap was admitted to Pavana Hospital soon after the incident was reported, but the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Rural) Shrikrishna Kokate and Inspector Sanjay Nikam of Talegaon police station visited the spot.
"Kalokhe was a famous farmer in the Maval Taluka. His murder was a result of previous enmity. One of the suspects, Dharmesh Kamble, is absconding against whom a case has been lodged along with three others," said Talegaon police. "The exact reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. We have got clues about the suspects and they will be arrested soon."
His murder has created tension in Talegaon, nearly 30 kms from the city. He is survived by his wife and four daughters.
