Government today said one Indian has been arrested in Spain for alleged links with Al-Qaida, clarifying media reports that four Indians had been held. The arrested Indian has been identified as Jaganjeet Singh, sources said today.

Singh, who was held along with 14 others for allegedly forging papers for Al-Qaida operatives, is being produced before a court in Spain after which the Spanish authorities will give details, they said.
Media reports quoting a police spokeswoman in Valencia province said four Indians and one Pakistani were arrested in the eastern town of Mislata. Sources here, quoting the Indian Embassy in Spain, said only one of the arrested persons was Indian while other four were Pakistanis.

Cadena SER radio and other media outlets had reported that at least 10 more people were arrested in the northeastern city of Barcelona. Police in Madrid had said that the operation was in progress and so could not give details.
