Tehran: It's easy to flaunt those flashy cars, punky tattoos on Instagram - there's nothing wrong with that. But doing that seems to be the newest sin among gods (according to Iran).
Iran has jailed 12 fashion bloggers and online networking models for up to six years for spreading a "Western-style culture of nudity" intended to degenerate Muslims.
The eight women and four men were likewise banned from working in the fashion industry and banished from travelling to another country in the wake of being sentenced in the Iranian city of Shiraz.
Their lawyer Mahmoud Taravat said his clients denied the charges and want to appeal.
The Islamic Republic of Iran chooses what women ought to wear, by what method should they walk, who they should stroll with, and the timing of their walk. Iranian law requires that all women cover their heads in public and, while numerous Iranian youths wear western attire and drink alcohol in the confines of their homes, their life in the boulevards of the country is starkly unusual.
The mandatory head scarf covering has gradually been worn a little more freely by women over the years, provoking the administration to direct the undercover morality police to take action against this conduct.
In June, a senior Iranian cleric from Isfahan, Iran, had said "immorality" among youthful Iranian women, coming from dressing "despicably", is bringing about "climate change and making rivers and dams in Iran to run dry".
