What started as a secret ceremony on June 5, 2004 at the lavish Beverly Hills mansion of singer Jennifer Lopez ended yesterday, as the couple announced their "difficult decision" to end the marriage. The wedding had taken place four days after Anthony's divorce with first wife, former Miss Universe winner Dayanara Torres. The event was so hush-hush, even guests were clueless that they were attending a wedding until Lopez arrived in a Vera Wang gown.

Anthony end their 7-year marriage 'amicably'

The couple first shared the screen for Spanish single, No Me Ames (Don't Love Me), sharing the stage frequently after. At their sixth wedding anniversary last year, they went as far as to renew their vows.

Earlier in April, the pair announced plans for a television show together, Q'Viva! The Chosen, with Simon Fuller, creator of UK-based Pop Idol. The show would scour talent across the world to find the best performers in Latin music. It is unclear if the show will continue.

In their lovey-dovey appearances at paparazzi-populated events, Lopez often mouthed lines like, "I throw myself into love because I believe in it, but when things don't work you have to take
responsibility."

The three-time Latin Grammy award winner Anthony has two sons from his previous marriage. Rumours of his cheating first surfaced several years ago, although they were never confirmed. The couple's publicist released a statement on their behalf saying, "We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters. It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time."u00a0 The couple has three-year-old twins Max and Emme.

This was Anthony's second marriage and a third for Lopez. Lopez tied the knot with Ojani Noa, a waiter from Miami in 1997, but it ended badly with a court case that dragged on seven years after the marriage ended, with Noa threatening to write a tell-all tale. Next was backup dancer Cris Judd, but the 2001 wedding didn't make it past a year. Lopez briefly dated rapper Sean Combs aka P Diddy and was in a relationship with actor Ben Affleck for two years.

Lopez is estimated to be worth $110 million, and Marc Anthony, $40 million, according to Hollywood legal experts. It is not known if the couple had a pre-nup agreement.
