Before going on a deadly rampage killing more than 70 people, Norwegian Breivick took drugs to make him 'strong and efficient'
Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivick took drugs to make him 'strong and efficient' during the bombing and shooting spree which killed at least 76 people.
He also said he appeared to be a madman. "This whole case indicated that he is insane," Geir Lippestad said of Anders Breivik, who has confessed to 'atrocious but necessary' actions, but denies he is a criminal.

People hold flowers and love signs as thousands of people amassed yesterday. Breivik's maybe shifted to Halden prison. |

The lawyer said it was too early to say if 32-year-old Breivik would plead insanity at his trial, expected to be a year away.u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0
He added that Breivik also believes the killings were justified because he was in 'war'. "He is sorry he had to do this but it was necessary to start the revolution in the Western world," he said.
Lippestad said Breivik had stated he belonged to an anti-Islam network that has two cells in Norway and more abroad.
He added the gunman was 'surprised' to have reached Utoya island so easily on Friday, when he carried out his attack on a Labour party youth camp.
It was revealed yesterday that Breivik could be housed at the Halden prison, one of the most luxurious jails in the world.
The prison is set in acres of peaceful woodland, has jogging routes, and even a modern two-bedroom house separate from the grounds where prisoners can spend time with their families for days.

Every prisoner gets their own cell with a mini-fridge, a flat-screen TV and even a private bathroom and barless windows to let in more sunlight.
What changed? What changed Breivik from a lonely mummy's boy into a maniac mass killer with a hatred of immigrants?
According to his manifesto, he says that as a teenager his best friend was a Pakistani immigrant who loathed Norway and had been beaten him eight times, which later led him to think migration was ruining his country.
Meanwhile, the father of Anders Breivik declared yesterday that he wished his son had killed himself. "'I don't feel like his father," he was quoted as saying.
Blocking out screams
Anders Breivik is believed to have drowned out the screams of his victims by listening to film music from the Lord of the Rings on his iPod.
