Kuwait's state news agency says forensic experts have discovered a mass grave containing the bodies of 55 Iraqi soldiers killed in the 1991 Gulf War.
KUNA says the grave was uncovered Thursday in northern Kuwait in the presence of representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Iraq and the US-led allied forces that fought Iraq.
It said the bodies were identified by the Iraqi military uniforms worn by the soldiers, Iraqi military ID's and death certificates issued by the allied forces.
The coalition troops liberated Kuwait after seven months of occupation by Saddam Hussein's army. KUNA said the ICRC will arrange for the bodies to be handed over to Iraq.
