Thailand's anti-government protester leaders said Monday that they will proceed mass street demonstration as planned despite the dissolution of House of Representatives

Suthep Thaugsuban, core protest leader, had called on people from across the nation to join the massive rally Monday, which he said would be "the final showdown with the government", Xinhua reported.

Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra announced in a televised speech the dissolution of the House of Representatives, which is now awaiting royal approval.

The protesters, who have been united as the "People's Democratic Reform Committee," rejected the House dissolution which would pave way for a fresh general election. They demanded Yingluck to step down and hand power to a "people's council".u00a0
